An Unforgettable Family Adventure: Sailing the Aeolian Islands
Our family of four recently had the pleasure of experiencing a sailing vacation with Kostas, exploring the enchanting Aeolian Islands in mid-May 2025. From start to finish, our journey was seamless, relaxing, and filled with adventure.
Flying from Düsseldorf to Catania, we appreciated the convenience of Kostas' transfer service, whisking us effortlessly from the airport to the picturesque harbor of Milazzo. Upon arrival, our friendly and professional skipper welcomed us aboard, setting the tone for an unforgettable week.
We began our adventure sailing towards Vulcano, where we first experienced the striking Black Sand Beach (Spiaggia Sabbie Nere) and relaxed in the therapeutic volcanic mud baths (Fanghi). Climbing the Gran Cratere della Fossa was thrilling, rewarding us with breathtaking views. Highlights included swimming in the crystal-clear waters of Grotta del Cavallo and the stunning natural beauty of Piscina di Venere.
Our next stop was Lipari, the vibrant heart of the Aeolians. Here, we marveled at the stark white cliffs of the pumice quarries, admired the iconic Faraglioni, and immersed ourselves in history at the Museo Archeologico Eoliano and the impressive Lipari Castle. The beaches of Canneto were perfect for leisurely afternoons swimming and sunbathing.
Salina captured our hearts with its lush greenery. The tranquil Spiaggia di Rinella was perfect for family relaxation, while the charming harbor of Santa Marina offered picturesque strolling and delightful dining. Our ascent to Monte Fossa delle Felci provided unforgettable panoramas, and the visit to Malvasia vineyards introduced us to the rich flavors of local wine.
The final leg of our journey led us to Alicudi and Filicudi, islands of untouched charm. Exploring the magical Grotta del Bue Marino and sailing through the majestic Arco di Perciato were experiences we'll treasure. At Pecorini a Mare, we delighted in authentic island life, while our charming donkey ride through Alicudi’s narrow, winding streets was a hit, especially with our ten-year-old.
This sailing tour perfectly balanced adventure and relaxation, catering seamlessly to the diverse interests of our family—from history and culture to nature and leisure. Thanks to Kostas and our fantastic skipper, we created memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommended for anyone seeking a unique and luxurious way to explore Italy’s Aeolian Islands.
